Applied AI PracticumThree horizontal bars, each brighter than the one above it, resolving into a solid letter P: three course units leading to practical, finished work.

Tuition & enrolment

One fee, everything in it, and nothing billed for three sessions.

No quote to request and nothing held back until you talk to someone. $3,300 for the complete 20-session program, with two optional support sessions every week included. Nothing is invoiced until after the third session — which matters more than usual here, because January 2027 is the first cohort this course has ever had.

What tuition covers

One line, not five.

Tuition is a single inclusive fee. The twenty taught sessions, the two support sessions held open every week, curriculum design, written materials, the tool-build support in Unit 3, assessment and certification are all inside it, and none of them are billed separately or upgraded later. Support sessions are not a tier, an add-on or a block of hours you draw down — they are part of the course.

The one thing tuition does not cover is software. You buy your own tool subscriptions, directly from the providers, on whatever plan suits you. Expect roughly US$25–60 a month during the course. Keeping software out of tuition is deliberate: it stops the fee being inflated by a margin on someone else's product, and it means you are not locked into my choices when the course ends.

University executive-education AI programs run $190 to $380 per contact hour, delivered to a room. The difference is overhead, not depth — and that is before the support sessions, which are one to one and cost nothing extra.

Payment

Nothing is billed for the first three sessions.

The first invoice is issued after the third session, not before it. The three sessions before that are unbilled, so the decision to continue is made after you have seen how the hours actually run rather than from a page like this one.

If you decide in that window that this is not what you need, you say so and we stop. There is nothing to pay and nothing to claim back.

The schedule after the first invoice is agreed with you. If a funding scheme requires a particular one — including that no payment be made before a set date, or that the whole fee appear on a single invoice — say so and it is issued to match.

There is no deposit, no registration fee, no cancellation fee, and no surcharge for paying across the course rather than in one sum.

Funding

Employer and fellowship reimbursement.

Tuition at this level is commonly met by an employer or a professional development scheme, and the course is documented from the start so that a claim is straightforward rather than awkward. Being accurate about it: this is the first cohort, so there is no history of approved claims to point at. What there is instead is the paperwork itself, published rather than promised — starting with the full course description, which is the document most schemes actually read.

If your scheme asks who is delivering the instruction, the instructor page sets out the practice the course is taught from, with the counts behind it and a plain statement of what it does not cover.

Provided on request, at no extra cost

  • An itemised invoice in US dollars, showing tuition as a single course fee.
  • A written course description stating dates, contact hours, curriculum, unit structure, assessment method and completion requirements. This is the document most schemes ask for, and it is downloadable here so you can check it against your scheme's rules before you enquire.
  • An attendance record across the program.
  • A Certificate of Completion recording contact hours, units completed and artifacts produced.
  • An invoice schedule matched to your scheme's rules, including holding payment until a required date.

Two things worth checking with your scheme first

Software costs

Most reimbursement schemes will not cover software or subscription costs. That is one reason tuition and tool access are kept separate here: the invoice you submit contains no software line to be denied.

Course versus consulting

Many schemes fund a course but not a consulting service. The Practicum is a course by construction — a fixed structure, a published syllabus, a set schedule, stated outcomes, required work, an assessment and a certificate — and the documentation above shows that on its face. If you are already engaging me or my company for other work, that work stays on a separate invoice and outside anything you submit. I will not combine them, and you should not ask me to.

I cannot advise on whether a particular scheme will approve a particular claim, and I do not represent that it will. What I can do is provide accurate documentation of what was bought and delivered.

For a reimbursement claim

The four documents a claim asks for.

Reimbursement usually stalls on paperwork rather than on the decision. All four of the documents below are provided on request, at no extra cost, and one of them you can download and check against your scheme's rules before you even enquire.

1

Itemised invoice

In US dollars, showing tuition as a single course fee for the complete 20-session program. Issued after the third session. If your scheme needs a purchase-order or claim reference on it, it is carried on the invoice.

2

Course description with contact hours

Dates, contact hours, curriculum, unit structure, assessment method and completion requirements. This is the document most schemes actually read, and it is downloadable here.

3

Attendance record

Every main session, across the program, with dates, and support sessions attended listed separately. Produced at the end or at any point during the course if a scheme wants an interim record.

4

Certificate of Completion

Program title, delivery period, contact hours, units completed and artifacts produced, issued and signed by me as the instructor.

Contact hours, stated plainly

20 instructional contact hours of live one-to-one delivery in the main sessions, plus 30–40 hours of assigned independent practice: approximately 50 to 60 hours of total learner effort across 22 weeks. Optional support sessions — up to two a week, 15 to 60 minutes — sit on top of that and are recorded separately, so a claim can be made on the taught hours alone.

No CEU, PDU or CPD equivalence is claimed, because claiming one would be false. If your scheme requires a specific unit, ask and I will tell you honestly whether the course can satisfy it rather than guessing.

If the funder withdraws mid-course

Tell me. Invoicing stops, the sessions already delivered stand, and we agree either a pause or a reduced remainder. You will not be pursued for the balance of a course you are no longer being funded for.

Confidentiality

The course runs on your live professional material, so how that is handled is set out in full on the privacy and confidentiality page, including a mutual NDA available at no cost before you send anything.

Anything else your scheme needs

Ask. If a form has to be completed, a letter written or a particular wording used, send it and it comes back inside two business days. I would far rather write a document than have you chase me for one, and since this is the first cohort I would rather find out now what your scheme needs than discover it at the claim.

Before anything is billed

Three sessions to decide, and no money in the way.

The usual version of this promise is a refund window. This is simpler. Nothing is invoiced until after the third session, so if you stop there you owe nothing and there is nothing to claim back — no refund to process, no exit interview, and nothing for a funding scheme to unwind.

Once invoicing has begun the fee stands, because by then the curriculum has been rebuilt around your work and a place has been held that someone else could have taken. If circumstances change mid-program — a posting, an illness, a job — talk to me and we will find something reasonable, which usually means pausing rather than unwinding.

If I cannot deliver, for any reason on my side, you are refunded pro rata for every session not delivered, without having to ask.

Process

How enrolment works.

  1. A thirty-minute conversation, at no cost

About your work, not about the course. What you produce, where the hours go, what you wish existed. If the fit is wrong I will tell you in that call and usually point you somewhere better.

  2. A written proposal, within a week

The standard curriculum with your material mapped into it: which source sets Unit 1 uses, which tool Unit 3 builds, and what the four artifacts will be in your case. Plus the course description and, if a scheme needs one up front, a pro-forma invoice — so you have the documentation before you commit. If you need it for a funding application, this is the document to attach, and I will turn it around faster if there is a deadline.

  3. Scheduling

A fixed weekly slot for the twenty-two weeks, agreed across both calendars, plus the two windows each week in which support sessions can be booked, and the two break weeks chosen up front rather than improvised in April.

  4. Preparation

Before Session 1 you send the source material for Unit 1 and, if the primary tool has a target format, a real example of it. Session 14 stalls without that example, so it is asked for early.

  5. Start

First session in the first full week of January.

Closing date

Enrolment for the 2027 cohort — the first — closes on 15 December, or when the three places are taken.

A couple of sentences is enough. I reply to everything within two business days, and I will say plainly if I think the course is wrong for you.
